Reinassance monuments in San Francesco d'Assisi
Over the years between 1999 and 2006, after completing the Serpotta cycle, the Foundation has concentrated its efforts in the restoration group works marmoreee placed in the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, an old cardinal reference socio-religious and artistic for the quarter and the whole city since the thirteenth century.
The works are restored the testimony relevant than the first wave renaissance that had the highest expressions, from seventh to ninth decade of the fifteenth century, with the masterpieces of Laurana and D. Gagini, precisely and above all in this very Basilica. Through these artists were introduced in Sicily as the new ideological and aesthetic sensibility, borned in Tuscany in the early decades of that century. |
