The Foundation launched in 2002 in collaboration with the University of Palermo (Faculty of Arts, Institute of Archaeology, and Faculty of Architecture) and the Superintendence of Palermo for cultural heritage and environmental (Service for archaeological goods), projects for the promotion of knowledge of our archaeological heritage. The Foundation have been established two annual scholarships, one for young scholars of archaeology, and one for young scholars of urban planning and architecture of ancient Sicily, willing to work for the project in epigraph, dedicating to specific issues, indicated by the Coordinator Project, Prof. Arch. Roberto Calandra, research library for the drafting of text and graphics for any publications, conferences, seminars, tours, etc.. The activity led to the realization of the panels illustrating the important archaeological and architectural context of the "Ipogei" of the Sale of the Duke of Montalto in the Palazzo Reale. During 2004 there was the publication of the book "The Cathedral of Monreale. Architecture of light and icon", produced with the financial assistance of the Foundation, and that one of the authors the arch. Alessandro Di Bennardo, one of two fellows of the Foundation.
In 2006, the Foundation has awarded a scholarship to two scholars young graduates, arch. Matthew Iannello and Blenda Scolaro, for the formation of a guide "Architecture in Palermo in the twentieth century". The guide is being developed with the advice of professors Roberto Calandra, Stefano Piazza and Rosanna Pirajno, and will be published by the Foundation. |
